William J. Wenner, Jr., MD, JD is a Professor Emeritus, Pediatrics at the Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine.  In addition, he is an Adjunct Professor of Law.  He continues to teach in both the Medical and Law Schools.

Dr. Wenner is a member of the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Board of Directors, and a member of the Editorial Board of JPGN Reports, a journal of Pediatric GI. He serves on the Board of the Pennsylvania Health Advisor Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership. Prior to the Covid Pandemic, he provided pro bono legal services through the Dauphin County Bar Association.

He was an employed member of the medical staff at Penn State Health for ~ 12 years as a Pediatric Gastroenterologist.  In that role he was the Director of Inpatient Pediatric GI and Nutrition, Medical Director of the Intermediate Care Unit (Step Down from ICU), and served as an Interim Chief of Pediatric Neurology.  He served on multiple institutional committees including Hospital Credentialing, Department Mortality Review (Chair), and Departmental Promotions Committee. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State University Faculty Senate.

 

Prior to his work at Penn State, he was the Vice President of Medical Affairs at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE for ~ 3 years. He had worked at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) as a Pediatric Gastroenterologist and as the Hospital’s Medical Director of Quality for over 9 years.

 

Dr. Wenner is trained and board certified in Pediatrics as well as Pediatric GI and Nutrition. His fellowship was at CHOP.

 

He did his residency at Stanford University. He has published 25 peer reviewed articles, one book, and sixteen chapters.
