Louis "Lou" GrowMiller
Executive Director
Louis "Lou" GrowMiller, a lifelong resident of Montgomery County PA, has dedicated his professional career to non-profit leadership and to improving the lives of countless families.
With over two decades of experience as a Licensed Social Worker and his extensive background of non-profit work, Lou has seen firsthand the challenges that families face, including health care and health equity challenges. Lou’s dedication to the mission of JKPPA brings renewed energy to fulfillment of JKPPA’s commitment to improve the health care experiences and outcomes of clients and promote the well-being of the public.
Lou's journey in social work began with his education, earning degrees from Lock Haven and Widener Universities. His recent commitment to the field led him to serve at one of the largest social service agencies in Philadelphia, where he has been instrumental in driving program operations and innovation since 2009. Under his leadership, foster care, adoption services, family engagement initiatives, and mental health services for older youth have flourished, providing a beacon of hope for those in need.
Lou’s leadership extends beyond his professional role, demonstrated by his participation in prestigious programs like the United Way’s Emerging Leaders and the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities’ Executive Leadership Institute, sponsored by the University of Michigan Schools of Social Work and Business. His commitment to child welfare is also reflected in his contributions to influential boards such as the Family Focused Treatment Association and the Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth, and Family Services.
The GrowMiller family's personal journey with fostering and adoption further highlights Lou's deep-rooted passion for supporting humans. As former foster parents who adopted two of their foster children, Lou and his husband have opened their hearts and home, offering stability and love to children facing uncertainty.
Lou's influence also permeates through his volunteer work. A 32-degree Freemason, he has dedicated over two decades to advising the DeMolay youth group and more recently The Order of Rainbow for Girls in Pennsylvania, shaping young minds with the principles of leadership and integrity. Lastly in 2023, he completed his term as President of the PTA at Copper Beech Elementary School, bringing diversity and cultural awareness to the 1,100 students and their families.
